Goodwood Festival of Speed 2021.

While the UK sets off on the road to normality, so too did the world-renowned motorsports celebration Goodwood Festival of Speed. Roaring back into life on 8-11 July, as part of the Events Research Programme, it truly was a Festival of Speed like no other.

Porsche once again was right at the forefront of festivities. The team spent four glorious days demonstrating the latest innovations and celebrating the Porsche motorsports heritage, alongside respected peers and fellow car aficionados.

This year’s message was to honour the postponed 2020 Festival of Speed. ‘The Maestros – Motorsport’s Great All Rounders’ featured stories of racing legends, drivers, teams and manufacturers who have all succeeded across a variety of motorsport disciplines.

One of the many highlights of this year’s event was the global debut of the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. As a 640 PS SUV, it’s the fastest production Cayenne ever built. Thanks to its incredible track capability, the Festival of Speed was the perfect place to see it in action.

Three-time Ryder Cup Champion, Porsche Ambassador and keen car enthusiast Paul Casey was thrilled to be sat in the passenger seat as it headed up the famous Hillclimb. “The power of the Cayenne Turbo GT is breath-taking and, as a big fan of GT cars, every drive in a new model is like Christmas.”

“It was incredibly exciting to experience the atmosphere here, to immerse myself in the motorsport world and see some legends live.”

The Cayenne Turbo GT launch celebrations continued with a small but impressive Cayenne parade up the hill. The 2007 Cayenne S Transsyberia, 2008 Cayenne Turbo S and 2014 Cayenne GTS all made an appearance from the Porsche Museum collection.

Another UK debut wowing the crowds at the show was the new 911 GT3 with Touring Package. The subtle, high-performing athlete was built for the track but destined for the road. Paul Casey and his wife Pollyanna couldn’t resist taking it for a spin on the roads around Goodwood afterwards too.

All in all, Goodwood’s long-awaited Festival of Speed was a huge success for its attending fans, exhibitors and ‘Maestros’ alike. The four-day celebration was the return of live event for our customers, and will hopefully mark the start of a brighter future and a return to some sort of normality for individuals, businesses and large group gatherings. This will of course include the other many eagerly awaited motorsports events in the calendar. Now that’s certainly something worth celebrating.
